Re-Fight of the Battle of Coronel

I finally got around to ordering the proper ships for a fight of the WW1 naval Battle of Coronel.  Previously, I just used whatever ships I had picked up at the local game store.  But this time we were ready for a proper battle!

The game was very fun - both sides took a pounding and there were some close calls when the criticals started flying!  Germany prevailed in the end, but Scharnhorst was practically out of action at the end (with one turret remaining operational).  However, Gneisenau was untouched!  My light cruisers took the brunt of the fire - Grant seemed obsessed with sinking them.  ;-)

Mordor Orcs

The next batch of Dip miniatures are done!  28 Mordor Orcs.

I have also started work on a few more terrain pieces:

Both are from Thomarillion - I don't see the stairs on the site now though.

This one was pretty good!  It held my attention for most of it, and it brought back memories of anthropology classes in college.

Lots of Men of Gondor!

As the first real trial of using "the Dip", I got out a bunch of Men of Gondor and gave them some base colours and brushed on the Army Painter "Dip".

I really like how they turned out!  They didn't take me that long to do either.  I worked on them in between cleaning up miniatures that I picked up recently (Sudan!!!).

I have a bunch of around 30 Mordor Orcs on the table ready to be base coated, for the next "Dip" lot!  :-)

It took me a while to warm up to this book.  Overall I liked it, but don't know if I'd listen to it again.
