10mm Storch Aerial Observer for Battlegroup

I was trying to clear up some mess on my painting desk and decided to base up this Feisler Storch 1/144 pre-painted plane.

Super easy to do, it is held up with brass rod (which is very sturdy) and held in place on the base and in the hole I drilled in the plane with two part epoxy resin.  I flocked the base like the rest of my army and now I have an aerial observer plane for Battlegroup!  :-)

Fenris Fountain

Once in a while I like to mix it up from painting miniatures and do a terrain piece.  I love the resin stuff from Fenris, and decided to paint up this fountain I picked up from them a while ago.

I had it all painted up and flocked, and was excited to try out the Woodland Scenics water (I never had before).  It's super easy to use - you just pour it in and wait a day and a bit to dry before adding more layers.

I put a post-it note over the water and took it outside for a Dullcote.  Wrong!  Here's what happened to the water effect that was touched by the Dullcote:

I didn't have much of an option, so I tinted up some water effect with green paint and poured it in, with a bit of flock on top.

I don't have all the nice bits at the bottom of the fountain to look at anymore, but I think it looks a bit more creepy with the green tint.  :-)

10mm WW2 German Flak and Medics, Soviet AA

It was clean up the desk time in the Harwood Hobbies Man Cave...finished off a few 10mm WW2 items.

I tried doing something different for the Germans - I used fine flock for grass, with a bit of static grass added, some clump foilage and a tuft.  I think it looks good.  :-)

15mm KillBots!

I picked up some of The Scourge from Rebel Minis, as I like the idea of a terminator-style robot apocalypse.  I thought I'd jazz them up with a pea dot camo scheme.

I'm a fan of Darcy Coates, and thought I'd try one of her books out on Audible instead of eBook.  This one was FANTASTIC!  Loved the story - very spooky!

New Harwood Hobbies Kickstarter!

I've launched my latest Kickstarter, in which I hope to raise funding in order to release some miniatures I purchased from Iain Colwell of Tengu Miniatures a while back.

More White Dragon 15mm Miniatures

I've finished up the last of the infantry and smaller mechs that I got from the White Dragon Kickstarter.  Here is a small taste of the latest batch:

I'm really enjoying painting 15mm miniatures from a variety of companies - the more that I purchase the more I realize how incredibly detailed they are!  The pictures on the websites often do not do them justice.

White Dragon Miniatures!

I started the immense task of painting up all the 15mm miniatures I acquired in the White Dragon Kickstarter.  I have about 60% of the infantry done so far, but have most of the mechs undone as of yet.

There is a crazy amount of detail on these 15mm minis and I'm afraid my sad attempts at painting don't do them justice!   However, I went for harsh highlights to make them pop on the tabletop.

Hopefully the last in the series, as it was "Meh".

15mm Ikwen

I came across these miniatures on the 15mm.co.uk site and really liked their look.  These are 15mm miniatures and I picked up the platoon deal they have on the website.

I painted up all these after about three days of straight working on them.  As always with 15mm, I try to kick up the contrast and brighten the colours.  I am extremely happy with how they came out!

This book was quite a surprise!  I really enjoyed it.  Horror fans will enjoy it.  :-)

Death Dog and Transluscent Tendrils

I finished up these three miniatures very quickly - a Death Dog from Reaper, and Shadow Tentacles from Reaper Bones.

Mainly drybrushing on the dog, and just basing on the tentacles.

Hmmmm...most of the stories were okay.  The last one (and the longest) really stands out and makes me think back to it days after I listened to it.  Great narrator too!

Armies Army 15mm Bogatyr MBT and BTR 290 APC

I finally took some pictures of the Armies Army Bogatyr and BTR 290 that my friend Grant airbrushed for me.  Brigade Games Polish 15mm painted by me and added for scale.

15mm Brigade Models Polish

I am determined to take pictures of the stuff I paint!  Did these a month or so ago - 15mm sci-fi Polish, used as Neo-Russians by myself.

Vampire in Bat Form and Wraith!

I am surprised at how fast these two painted up, and how great they look!  Both are Reaper miniatures.

A great conclusion to this sci-fi series!  I really enjoyed all three books - highly recommended!

Black Mountain Side Review

I watched an interesting horror B-movie recently - Black Mountain Side.

You could tell it was going for a The Thing feel, and it sort of pulled it off.  I liked how it was set in Canada, and liked how I was able to put my Anthropology degree to work in understanding what the cast was talking about!  :-)

The "monster" was...odd.  Yet it got creepier the more it came up - the fact of whether you don't know if it is real or in their heads makes it even more creepy.

Give it a watch if you like atmospheric horror movies like The Thing, you might just enjoy it.

Crypt Terrain and Yeti!

Ok, it's been a while since I posted.  Just a quick post with a few random things:

I can't remember where the crypt is from.  I just had it on the base and thought it looked really sparse - so I added in the lion statues from Fenris and made a bush from an armature.

I've had these Yeti prepped and primed for AGES!  :-)  I was surprised how fast I painted them, so I don't know why I was putting off getting them done for so long.

Beyond the Gates of Antares Ghar and Concord

I purchased the Beyond the Gates of Antares starter box and the Concord and Ghar starter armies from a friend of mine a short time ago.  I got a few of them painted - tried out some different colour schemes for them...

I like the colours and am working on getting a bunch of more minis painted!
