I am finally back in town and actually have two weeks off in a row this time. This is the second time this year! So hopefully I can get a lot of painting in and finalize the man cave while I'm here.
I finished these Foundry vikings a while ago, but they weren't fully finished at the time so I didn't post them here:
I still don't have a photo booth set up yet, so I'm stuck taking the pictures from the painting table. The shield was a total bitch to get the transfer on - it's from Little Big Men Studios, and I have yet to be able to take that transparent "transfer" off the top. Ah well, I'll still keep trying with them as they're beautiful decals.
On the table right now I have a bunch of Dust Warfare models - something I haven't tried painting before but have been wanting to for a long time. I didn't enjoy cleaning the miniatures, but once I'm past that and have cut the models off their silly bases I was good to go. They are easy to paint surprisingly, I wasn't sure what they would be like. I should have a pic up of a squad tomorrow.
On a side note, we have a new addition to the family:
Since my wife's uncle has dognapped Rocky Senior, we thought a new addition would be in order. This is Rocky Junior, a Yorkie puppy. Very cute, very energetic, and very much a pain in the ass sometimes! ;-)

Vikings!!!
Since I hadn't painted for something like five months, I thought I'd start out with something light for my return to painting. I've had these three half-finished vikings sitting on the side of my painting table for something like eight months - I thought I couldn't screw them up too bad...
They are all from Wargames Foundry, from one of their hordes deals I picked up ages ago. The shield decal is from Little Big Men Studios, which I have never used before. It didn't sit exactly right on the shield, but looks okay. I'll get used to using them, well hopefully I do as I have a lot of them. ;-)
Sorry for the crappy lighting - I'm still working out where to set up my photography table.
I think some of the inspiration toward completing these has come from my reading some viking books as of late.
I wanted to like The Whale Road...but didn't. I made it about a quarter of the way through it and then gave up on it. I don't know if it was his style of writing of what, but it just wasn't my thing.
But there was one book that REALLY got my viking juices flowing....
I wasn't expecting much from Viking Dead, but I ended up loving it!!! Lots of good fight scenes - the boat-on-boat fighting in this one part really stands out in my memory. The ending caught me totally off guard, but I dug it. Read it and let me know what you think.
On my painting desk right now are three more vikings and some Infinity Haqqislam models.

I read all of the Viking trilogy. They were okay...it kept my interest but it didn't really do it for me.
